Yesterday I purchased more supplies and today, on the last day of my winter break, I started the last three dozen fan paintings.

Here is the link to the frames I bought for these paintings. You can also purchase them straight from the manufacturer.

I went on some errands today – buying groceries and art supplies. I have a lead on an art gallery that seems promising and my head is spinning with new ideas for paintings. It’s so exciting.
And, I found twelve more cents on the ground! I am up to forty-one cents in found money for 2023.

Remember, this is money on the ground. I’m not using a metal detector (the Dr Otek metal detector is the one I bought to start my journey with that hobby).

I’m planning to purchase the Minelab Equinox 900 this summer, unless someone wants to gift it to me? I will put it on my Amazon Wishlist. It is pretty hilarious to spend over a thousand dollars on something that helps you find old and corroded pennies. But it’s all about living the dream, am I right?
What a beautiful day in Central New York – and a great day to go in search of fish fry. My friend and I discovered that Heritage Hill Brewhouse opened at 11:30 AM and they served a broiled haddock!

Presentation: A huge piece of fish filled the plate with fries on the side, as well as coleslaw, a dollop of tartar sauce, lemons and a garnish. A traditional fish fry is also available.

Taste: The fish was incredibly light. It was like eating air. So good. Everything about this meal was extraordinary. I forgot to ask what type of oil they use for the french fries. They were lightly crispy, not-at-all salty perfection. The coleslaw was basic, like, just cabbage and vinegar. But, OMG that fish!
I’m not sure. what that topping was – like a Panko thing? Not salty, no fishy smell. You have to try it and then describe it to me in your best Giada de Laurentiis vocab. Bobbi and I agreed that it wasn’t buttery. Moist? No, not quite. Soft, airy? IDK.

Restaurant Experience: There were about five people at the bar when we arrived. I suspect they have a large dinner crowd. I love going to places that aren’t busy, though. That way nobody gets annoyed when I paparazzo the place
We seated ourselves at a table near the bar. The server doubled as the bartender. She brought a menu then shared the fish options. We ordered the same meal. It took about twenty minutes to arrive.
It was a pleasant dining experience.

Location: Heritage Hill Brewhouse is located at 3149 Sweet Road, Pompey, New Y ork 13138. They are planning to open a second location in North Syracuse, NY. Check out their website for more about that plus special events and menu options.
Parking: The parking lot is not stiletto friendly. It is a bit gravelly. This is a casual dining experience. It is also a brewery and a farm. Donkeys greet you as you enter the parking lot and in warmer weather there is a petting zoo situation.

These encaustic paintings are 4″ x 4″ mounted on 6″ x 6″ chalkboard. They each have their own little stand and are meant to be displayed on a desk or table.
I’m obsessed with them. I just love the process of making art.

Today was the prep for five dozen new paintings. I added wax to the boards then etched in the designs for the last three dozen 8″ x 8″ fan paintings, and I created the chalkboard bases for the 4″ x 4″ heart paintings. Oh, and I started them. Encaustic is incredibly intoxicating.

I prefer to work in series and it’s always a dozen in a series no matter the size of the paintings. I’m currently working on smaller art pieces due to the size and space of my art studio.
I’ve been making lists of places to contact for art exhibitions and basically trying to get a jump start on living my authentic life.
I’m retiring from teaching in June.

I’m reading Barbra Streisand’s autobiography. She likes to say, “Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to assist you.”
What say you universe? You know what I want.

I created one hundred cards. They will be distributed today to the local Meals on Wheels recipients. If you receive one, I hope it brightens your St. Valentine’s Day!

I am in the process of uploading the images to my Redbubble.com site. They will be available on a variety of merchandise including stickers, T-shirts, phone cases and coffee mugs, as well as posters and notecards.

I found three cents this week! Total thus far for 2024: twenty-nine cents! <3

The Robineau Gallery at The Everson Museum of Art, adorned with ceramic and mixed-media sculptures, tells the story of Sana Musasama’s artistic journey through a personal and global history of art/architecture and toys.

This is the fourth time I’ve viewed an African-heritage artist use dolls to commemorate their artistic journey. I am feeling inspired to incorporate the idea in my own work. I have already gone the houses route.

These six-inch slab dolls are so unique. I love the way the legs are connected separately. The beads are attached with pipe cleaners. If the dolls didn’t have boobs, they would make a great sample/inspiration for a second grade clay project.

Sana Musasama: Returning to Ourselves will be on display February 3 – April 28, 2024.

I went to Arby’s to get their limited time special – the Crispy Fish Sandwich with Crinkle Cut fries.

Presentation: I went to the drive-thru at the Arby’s on Erie Blvd in DeWitt, New York. I took the food home. It was in a bag. The fish had been wrapped in wax paper. When I took it out of the bag it was a bit soggier than images of the food on-line. It was supposed to be on a sesame seed bun but mine looked like a brioche bun.

Taste: I enjoyed the meal. The fries smelled amazing all the way home. I didn’t sneak any because I wanted to photograph the meal. I live about five minutes away from the restaurant.
The fries were very salty. The fish was juicy due to the generous tartar sauce and, coupled with the lettuce, it tasted great. I enjoyed eating it all. Afterwards, I felt like I wanted more. That salt thing – it makes you want to eat and eat, and eat and thirst.

Restaurant Experience: The guy at the drive thru was so friendly. The food was $8.75. I did not go into the restaurant. It took about five minutes to order and collect the food.
Location: Arby’s are located all across the United States. This one is at 3250 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, New York 13214.
Parking: There is an ample parking lot and not a huge line at the drive-thru last night around 5:30 PM. It was perfect in terms of a quick meal and convenience. Faster than I thought it would be.
I recommend Arby’s for fast food fish. If you go to the web-site, they have other fish options including a cheddar cheese one called Fish N Cheddar and another one called King’s Hawaiian Fish Deluxe.
