I went all mini last week. It is finally getting warmer in Syracuse! Yesssssss!
On Friday afternoon , I put the glazes away for the year. All the clay projects are now on deck for the kiln.. I am gearing up for the final lessons. I think there are thirty school days left, so only fifteen classes for A day students and fifteen classes for B day students.
They will be creating art books and the Studio in Art students will begin a watercolor landscape. So fun!!!! <3
Season 2 of Bridgerton is now available for consumption on Netflix. The binge-worthy series is based on novels by Julia Quinn, set in the early 1800s about a family of eight children of wealth and status. Each of the eight novels revolves around one of the sibling’s love life, which leads one to speculate that there will be more to come from this show in the next few years.
This is a Shonda Rhimes vehicle and with it comes that wonderful modern twist – a multi-ethnic cast, contemporary music (they were dancing to a Madonna song in one episode) and a whimsical/colorful take on the Edwardian period costumes. The latter includes a vibrant array of sherbet-colored gowns and the gamut of puffed sleeves, empire waists, embroidery, silks, leathers, and lots of shimmer-shammer.
Here are my latest #ootd looks. Currently, my style is romance novel flair with lots of Brigerton-esque qualities. I am all about the puffy sleeve and ruffles. And heavier on the empire waist than I realized. Rebecca Taylor is my guru for this style. You will also be seeing a lot more Faithfull the Brand, Free People and Frame in my closet these days. And of course, leather, silks and now that it is spring – cotton and linen. #lovefashion #fashionintherealworld. <3
Here are my most recent outfits of the day at work/school. I feel like my look is sort of romantic/bohemian/natural fiber/modern.
Life has been a lot of fun! I am still loving taking these pictures every morning, loving the projects we are doing in art class and the fun we are having.
Eastern Standard Time is my jam. It is so great to have sunshine past 7:00 pm – it feels amazing. It is a condition that brings me so much joy.
Yesterday was the anniversary of our school exodus in 2020. We have come a long way since then.
For one, we are all into Wordle. We all take about five minutes during Study Halls to play and when that isn’t satisfying enough we move to Wordle Unlimited.
Here I am back in black – it is a comfort zone. And I have so many separates to mix and match! I love the way it feels to know who I am and what I love. I love ruffles and puff sleeves, embroidery, leather, silk and velvet! <3
The V-neck cashmere sweater paired with a leather skirt is a marriage made in fashion heaven! Worn with a bootie and one of my handmade bracelets, this look was my uniform last week. It was a theme I will revisit again and again. <3
Students are working on papier-mache sculptures (donuts, owls) and colored pencil drawings. The Studio in Art students just finished glazing their clay projects and now they are about to do still life paintings with acrylics. We are having a lot of fun making art!
Turtlenecks As Planned
I wore turtlenecks this week. I have four and there were four days of school, but I didn’t feel like wearing one on Friday. Sticking to a theme is the plan but plans don’t always seem to go as planned.
I’m in the process of planning an event and I spent half the day crying because it doesn’t feel like things will work out. Things are always working out, lol, but not necessarily the way you want them to work out. I’m waiting for the universe to surprise and delight me. I mean, I am allowing the universe to do that because I know how it works – no buts about it. I’ll stop crying now. Thanks, Bobbi. <3 🙂
I was a devil and an angel for Halloween this year. Here are the pictures along with others from Halloween past. Costumes are the best – it is so much fun, so creative. It should be a once a month thing instead of once a year. <3
Hats, Jeans & Wings
I wore jeans all week – my Joe’s Jeans leather pants and several pairs of 7 for All Mankind jeans. I have to say it was my most comfortable week. The challenge was to do Halloween looks with the clothing in my closet. And hats. It started with the striped top and beret because Monday was Pablo Picasso’s birthday. What followed was a Michael Nesmith (Monkees) look, a Justin Bieber thing (you HAVE to watch his latest documentary on Amazon Prime!) and a Parisian, culminating in the angel outfit with my new wings purchased on Amazon (second Amazon plug – you’re welcome, neighbor).
Dresses with Pockets
In my attempt to do a theme week, I selected short dresses with pockets. I love deep pockets! Clearly, I need a fifth dress with pockets to finish off the week. I had to insert a skirt on Thursday – but in its defense, OMG, the pockets are enormous. <3
In other news, my school picture was in my mailbox yesterday. I stood in a long line that day on the cafetorium stage, waiting my turn after a group of fifth graders had theirs. Is it all airbrushed? Because it is one of the best school pictures I have ever taken in twenty-five years of teaching. I think it was a new company or something, I’m not sure but, regardless, I am delighted with the results.
